Mixing Metaphors: Integrating Oracle & Tarot for Amplified Readings
I had the great pleasure of teaching a wonderful group of students and friends this past Sunday at TarotArts in South Pasadena, CA. The topic was working with Oracle and Tarot cards together and the class was titled, “Mixing Metaphors: Integrating Oracle and Tarot Cards for Amplified Readings.”
I organized seating by divination, as inspired by my mentor Naha Armády at 22 Teachings, but a little differently. In preparation, I chose two cards from different Oracle decks - one deck per student - and placed one card face down at each seat. The other cards were fanned out at the front counter. Upon check in, each student chose a card, then had to match the card back to the one at the table to find their seat. Their first card was light and the second card was shadow, chosen with intention to encourage looking deeper into the contrast of each pairs meaning and relationship to each other. For example, from the W.I.T.C.H. (Woman In Total Control of Herself) Oracle, the two cards were: 7. She of the Invisible Ally, and 19. Alchemist of Pain. After sitting with them both and really reflecting on that, what would you make of those two cards?
The remainder of the class was a balance between some history of IRL Oracles and the history of Oracle decks with guided mediation, journaling prompts and creating your spreads with multiple decks from various systems - Oracle, Tarot, Lenormand, Sibyl and Playing Cards.
It was so much fun for me, and everyone had such great insights - I learned a few things, too!
Can’t wait till the next workshop in November:” Come to the Pip Side: Understanding and Embracing the Marseille”
